Saturday @ Carmel VFW
With Wylie having a connection to the Carmel VFW and the fact that they were restarting Saturday breakfasts back up the Corvettes of Central Indiana members finally have a place to meet on Saturdays! This will be an every other week event that will allow everyone to have a full breakfast, if desired, from an actual menu with waited on tables.
December 18
Most of the members that were in town made it our for the bi-weekly Saturday breakfast. Among those missing were Charlie who failed to set his alarm, Bill nursing his new knee, and Randy & Sherry with flooded road issues. Among the many topics of the near Christmas date were the club party at Tom & Nancy's on Sunday, the incredible DVD produced by the 3 Tenors recapping the year with pictures and Christmas songs, and just general travel plans and visits for the Christmas week. As always a lot of fun for all who came out on the drewery day

December 4
A great group of members and Corvettes headed to the VFW on a bit foggy morning to receive recognition from the VFW Club for COCI's continuous support of the VFW projects. The members were given 'Challenge Coins" to commigrate the occasion. Breakfast was good, with lots of time to have a number of discussions among the four tables of guys and gals. As always we appreciate the fact that the all volunteer group takes great care of us.
Everyone also checked out the Christmas tree that had been donated by Charlie & Eileen, which barely fit in the bar room with the star on top. With the weather turning towards Winter in the next week this may be the last time this season for the Corvettes to attend the bi-weekly breakfast. Members will still come for the extended breakfast together, along with a few that come for the Wednesday evening Cigar and Bourbon sampling. It has been a great year doing things for the VFW and COCI will continue being supportive of this great organization.

A bit of a gray day kept most of the Corvettes, home but didn't stop members arriving for a great breakfast and social time. Everyone was glad to see Eileen be able to come as she had a quick trip to the hospital the day before, but was now doing fine. During breakfast Tim of the VFW came by and told us to be sure to come to the next breakfast on December 4 as the post wants to present an award to COCI for our involvement with the post.

On a crisp and clear morning most every member that was in town went to breakfast at the VFW along with a number of VFW members too. Along with the Corvettes in the lot Charlie and Eileen brought their SUV with a 9.5 foot Christmas tree that they were donating to the club. Will be sure to get pictures of the tree when up. This was also the day the Corvettes of Central Indiana members made a donation of $1110 to the VFW for their Christmas family fund. The VFW was glad for the donation and really appreciates the addition of COCI to their events.

October 23
A not too bad Fall day starting at the VFW was fun for those able to go. As always the meals were great, with the ladies getting theirs first, along with omelets being the real winners for both tables. With the meals coming out over a bit of time it allowed for the conversations to be continuous at each table instead of the silence when everyone gets served at the same time, which works nicely. After everyone was done, Charlie & John were heading off to IMS for the first Autonomous Race to be held there to 'watch' it from Charlie's suite. Greg was heading to South Bend later for an evening ND game, while everyone else were then off to their usual Saturday afternoon projects.

A bit smaller group headed to the VFW for a great breakfast. Most of the group was also heading to the Brazil Library for a mini Corvette display afterwards. Wylie came by for a minute with his new C8 before heading to Illinois for a football game, adding an additional 10 miles to now have over 400 on it. As always the VFW members thanked us for stopping by as they always enjoy the club members participation with them.

Another good group of members headed to the VFW for another great breakfast and lots of conversations on a muggy Saturday morning. Phil & Anita were a bit late after being rerouted due to Artomobilia clogging Main street. All of the group were glad that they were not participating and possibly getting their Vettes coated from Bub's, as they had been in past years. Other conversations included talk about an upcoming C8 order for Doug & Arminta and what color they might pick. With the new Caffeine color now being show, it is a possibility but everyone wants to see it for themselves first. There was also talk about the Keenland Race track trip in October, which many are going to. In all just another great day for the group to get together and enjoy each other's company.

On a beautiful day a number of members made it to the VFW breakfast with several leaving from there for IMS as it was the combined Indy Car and Xfinity races at IMS. Bob and Tom with rider Mark headed out first to attend the C8 track drive before the event while John, Randy, & Bill went directly to Charlie's suite on turn two to view the events. Another great morning with the club appreciating the effort that the VFW does to host them.
Check out the rest of Saturday's events.

July 31
The last day of July brought out almost every member of the club to a great morning at the VFW. Included in the group were Fred & Linda Whicker, our newest members who arrived in their Yellow C2! This was also the first gathering after the 9 couples had gotten back from their Western Trip, from which Paul presented Tom a gift to remember the trip by. Of course discussions included trip stories and a bit about Wylie ordering his 2022 C8 the previous day from Penske. The VFW was a bit packed and a little slow getting the meals out, but everyone was having a good time chatting and enjoying the company of each other that it didn't matter that much.

June 5
The first Saturday of June had most of the members there and 11 Corvettes including Ruby, who wanted to go to breakfast too. Since it was such a beautiful morning the group chatted for awhile before heading in to have another great breakfast. Due to a VFW national meeting the post had a new group of servers, which turned out to be part of a champion rugby team as they were just named 33rd in the nation. After the great meal and of course lots of important discussions, including the previous day's trip to Christie's and the upcoming Doug & Arminta party next Friday night, the group headed back outside to enjoy the day and finally for home and in Ruby's case a bath.

The second Saturday's breakfast brought out another good group of Corvettes and members. The day was a bit overcast but heading towards the 70's by the time we were done. Again the VFW had their back lot open for Corvette only parking and it was well used. With not as many there today the ladies just used one table and the guys another so all could be a part of each set of conversations. Much of the talk was about the track day tomorrow and the fun that it will be after a year off from being able to be out there. Speaking of IMS our itinerant track worker got a quick video while working, while the rest were eating breakfast. Thanks Jim for sending it to us, will see it live tomorrow.

What a beautiful morning for CORVETTES of CENTRAL INDIANA’s bi-weekly breakfast at the Carmel VFW. This is the best club breakfast arrangement we’ve had in any club. First they reserve the back of the parking lot just for our Corvettes and then they reserve the back “game” room just for our group so we are far from the maddening crowd. Finally, and best of all, they serve a full breakfast with several menu items and a la carte items too so you can get exactly what you want. As a bonus it’s all very good and the bar is eager to serve if you are so inclined. Today was special because our Florida members, Dona & Larry, were in visiting for the weekend and were able to attend. It was great to see them both. Greg drove Larry’s “new C4” in expecting Larry to “take delivery” but Larry forgot his check book. Maybe he’ll mail the check? We also took the opportunity to present the VFW with a $1200 donation from the club with the request that the monies be spent on their choice of projects that benefit needy Veterans. Wylie had collected the monies and made the presentation and thanked them for our club relationship with the VFW. During the event there was a round of applause that went up from the ladies table when they served Anita her breakfast. The last time Anita’s order got lost and she didn’t get served until everyone else was finished eating. The VFW remembered and made a point of making sure Anita got first place treatment this week. Incidentally, someone’s gotta be last and this week’s winner was Randy with Greg coming in as a close second. After everyone was full from a great breakfast and lots of good conversation we moved out to the parking lot and resumed the visiting. Tom was the focal point as he showed off his new C8 which was parked next to Larry G’s C8. Bob wore his orange hat and spoke of his new C8 which has been built and he is expecting delivery soon. It was a great attendance but we missed Rita, Nancy, our North Carolina members, Shelley & Jim, also Erika & Bill who had another function to attend and Londa & Paul. Everyone wishes Londa a speedy and full recovery from her surgery and thanks Nurse Paul for the great care he’s giving her. Thanks to Greg for the extensive writeup of the day for the website and Facebook.

Ours second Saturday at the VFW was again well attended. This time they made a private room for us on the side with their sliding doors shut. The back room had been reserved for a wedding later in the day so was not available. Several have said with this club you are always sitting by someone you know and have something to talk with them about, which makes for a fun even if a bit noisy at time. Everyone again had full breakfasts and probably will not need lunch today. Discussions at the guys tables included talking with Tom about his new C8 (the smile is still on his face), also covered the IMS announcement of allowing fans at the 500 and the other usual banter of this club. The ladies too were busy chatting away with Nancy praising the C8 along with other topics of interest to them.

This was our first Saturday event at the VFW and 23 members were able to attend. Since it was the first time the VFW was ready, but improvements will be made in the future. The guys were at one set of tables and the ladies at another set, which will be moved further into the back room. Three Corvettes did make the drive, but most stayed home as an extremely rainy day was predicted. In the future the back lot will be available for just Corvette parking too. A full breakfast menu was available, not just coffee and yesterday's muffin, which everyone made full use of. Conversation before and during the meal was very lively, as all of the members of the club really enjoy being with each other and have similar interests for good times where ever they go and get together.
