COCI Western Tour - Day 9 07/20
Gardiner to Rock Springs
Tuesday was another early start as we wanted to get into the park and get to the Grand Prismatic Spring hopefully before it was packed as it had been on Sunday. After a quick breakfast stop at the market we headed into the park and were at our first stop which is part of the Midway Geyser Basin and several interesting springs, pools, and geyser which can be seen from the boardwalk around them. During our drive there we encountered a lone buffalo as traffic came to a stop to see him. He decided it was time to cross the road and he did right in front of Bill & Erika's car, and then walked down the left lane as if he owns the place, which of course he does. After our walking around he basin and on the way back to the cars we spotted another lone buffalo along the road and were even able to get a few pictures from the road too. Then we started our drive to pass through the Grand Teton National Park and on to Jackson Wyoming and our nights destination of Rock Springs Wyoming. After seeing the amazing Teton range we got to Jackson seeing the ski area for a long distance. The town itself turned out to be the busiest place one could imagine as there was no parking and the streets were packed. Lunch then became impossible so we headed out of town only to find a few places suggested by the GPS were no longer restaurants, one being a coffee distribution center and the other a dentist office. So the group kept heading towards their final destination and found a general store in Bondurant that was only open for dinner Thursday - Sunday. At least after buying some snacks we were able to use the restroom. While there a local pulled up who turned out to be from Fishers and told John about a brewery in Pinedale, an hour away, which turned out to be great for the now famished group of travelers. After the late lunch the group headed on to the night's destination in Rock Springs Wyoming.
