Cammack Station & Wine 08/26
A great drive was planned for a beautiful Friday afternoon starting from the Kroger at 146 & Hazel Dell and using State Highways and county roads for a traffic free trip. Planners Tom and John did several pre runs to check out the route at the bottom of the pictures and only found one change to miss a railroad crossing that had deteriorated since our last trip there a year ago. The parking lot was practically full for the 11 AM departure with 14 Corvettes, many with tops down, ready leave. Those able to go were hosts Tom & Nancy and John & Ruth, along with Randy & Sherry, Doug & Arminta, Bob & Cindy, Phil & Anita, Paul & Londa, Bill & Erika, Charlie & Eileen, Rita & Wylie, Larry & daughter Michelle, Mark, Jim, and guest Terry with his hurt C8 which is still drivable. As we were getting near our destination Larry started talking about fields he used to farm as it turns out that he grew up just a few miles from Cammack. Once done with a great lunch that had us sitting at reserved tables a number of the group headed off to Tonne Winery around 8 miles from the station. Along the way Larry pointed out his childhood home and other local sites. Once there everyone enjoyed either wine slushes or a glass of wine before heading back home by various routes. It was a great afternoon and thanks to Tom and John for setting up the fun drive.
