Beef House & Old 55 04/30
Even though it is only the end of April - Tom & Nancy were able to plan a early season trip to the favorite destination of the Beef House in Covington. So on a nice 60 degree Friday a number of the members met at the Kroger on Michigan Road and 106 street for a 11:30 meeting time. Before heading out Wylie and Bob changed out their license plate brackets for the newly delivered COCI ones. Those able to go were hosts Tom & Nancy, Bob & Cindy, Wylie & Rita, Bill & Erika, John & Ruth, Randy & Sherry, and Phil & Anita which made two C8's, three C7's, and two C6's that rolled out on the drive. Even though it was a fluid day for Jim K, he and Pam were able to go along and met the group at 421 & 47 with their C7. From there we headed along Tom's favorite back road route which took us through Newtown and right by the new Old 55 Distillery, so of course we stopped. It was a quick stop with a few purchased even made. A great thing happened while there as Tom ran into an old friend Walt Minnicks from Rolls Royce who he worked with for many years. Walt was puling out of the drive in his C7 as we pulled in and turned around to see Tom's C8, not knowing who was driving it. They had a quick chat and even a few pictures taken of the two of them. Also while driving along the route Tom's C8 turned the magic 500 miles and there will be a video of the tach changing later. We got to the restaurant around 2 where they had a reserved table for us. Lunch was certainly a meal for everyone to fill up on along with lots of different discussions. One of them was the continuing comparison of Tom's new Red Mist verses the Long Beach red and the color pop of the newer one. A great day enjoyed by the whole group that were able to go. Having already done 8 DnD's this year as the weather gets better there will be more planned and spur of the moment Drive N Dines, which are always fun with this group.
