COCI Western Tour - Day 6 07/17
Spear Fish to Gardiner
Day 6 was Saturday that saw of the end of Black Hills Classic with 6 of the couples heading to Gardiner MT and Yellowstone National Park, while the other three couples headed to various locations, one towards home and the other 2 to visit relatives in Wyoming and Colorado. The morning had started with a brunch and awards for the end of the event as a wrap up to the Classic. The group heading to Gardiner just stayed long enough for the brunch which was really great, plus Erika won a table center prize. With Wylie leading, once underway the first leg was on 2 lane roads that were not too busy, but did require a few speedy passes for those at the rear of the line. Our first stop was at a rest area about 90 miles from where we would get on to I-90. Once on 90 we then made a gas and extended drive thru McDonald stop and were then back on our way to Gardiner. Once we got into the afternoon the Corvettes were seeing 105 on their outside temperature displays, it certainly was a hot and hazy trip. The haze was from the fires in West and Canada. Once checked and settled in we headed to a pizza restaurant across from the Travel Lodge for a great meal and a liquid replenishment from our long day's drive. Bed was early for the next morning's 7:00 entrance into the park as Wylie hoped to beat some of the crowds that were plentiful.
