COCI Western Tour - Day 2 07/13
Fort Dodge to Sioux Falls
With a great breakfast and a gorgeous day ahead the group left Ft. Dodge after getting another traveler to take a couple of pictures of the group. The first stop was after about an hour where some got gas and all used the facilities and checked out another small truck stop. A second stop was made about 30 miles from Jerry's Chevrolet our registration location to fill the rest of the Corvettes and walk around a bit. Leader Bill had missed the speed limit going up to 80 coming out of Sioux City and was roundly questioned why he had only been going slower. Upon leaving that error was remedied and they were soon at dealership which had Corvettes parked everywhere. Registration was very simple and soon they had the meal that was provided and gotten the needed passes and information for the following days events. They found out that there were over 1300 registered with even walk-ins today, of course many would not be able to do the tours as they had been filled up a long time before now. While at Jerry's Paul & Wylie while walking around were able to get their picture take with the Governor of South Dakota and another with club friend Ken Lingenfelter. Upon leaving if was fortunate that John had taken the lead as Bill had put the wrong Hilton address and would have gotten the group downtown instead of the Hilton Garden Inn on the south side. This location was where Sherry's sister and friends were staying, so a big group has gathered to have fun while there. For that matter Sherry's brother in-law introduced the group to Kai Spande, who then graciously sat with them talking about the 2022 model and other plant things for an hour before he had to leave for dinner. The group decided to eat dinner at the hotel and had a great time being able unwind and get ready for the trip to Spearfish in the morning.
