Michigan Trip 09/26~09/29
Paul planned another great trip the north, this time to check out the East side of Lake Michigan by heading to Traverse City Michigan for some fun times. Starting from McClures the 7 Corvettes headed north keeping on 31 for the whole trip. Those able to go with leaders Paul & Londa were Wylie & Rita, John & Ruth, Tom & Nancy, Randy & Sherry, Larry & Joy, and Charlie & Eileen enjoying the sunny drive to the Grand Beach Resort Hotel. On the way up the group stopped at a Chick-fil-A for lunch for a nice break. The evening meal was at the 140 year old Sleder's Family Tavern enjoying a local bit of history. Next day Paul had arranged a short bus winery tour, much to Larry's delight. Scott the driver had interesting tales of the area while driving to the three stops. Bowers Harbor Vineyards was the first stop then Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery the second where they enjoyed sitting outside and finally Old Mission Distillery to round the trip with Old Fashions the drink of choice while there. On Thursday the group headed up along the lake to Leland on Michigan 22 for shopping and ate at the Cove in the old fishing town. From there they headed to Leelanau State Park where the Grand Traverse Light House is located. Returning down the East side of the peninsula on 22 for a great drive back to the hotel totaling nearly 100 miles. Thursday evening Boone's Long Lake Inn was the location for the meal for the whole group. Friday the group headed back home on 131 with a lunch stop at Culver's in South Haven. Thanks to John, Charlie, & Wylie for the pictures of the trip.
