Gilmore Car Museum 07/12
Tom has been wanting to make a return trip to the Gilmore Car Museum for some time and was finally able to schedule it with four others signing up to go. Those going were Tom, Bill, Doug, Wylie & Mark. Since it was a smaller group Mark was enlisted to take Karen's car which turned out to be a great ride for the four that ended up going as Wylie ended up not going. The museum is near Hickory Corners Michigan which is a 3.5 hour drive from the Indy in the middle of farm land half way between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. The day had rain forecasted, but once there the group was glad to see no rain and low 70's for weather. The guys were glad for this as there is a lot of outside walking between the many buildings which could have made for a wet afternoon. The museum is fantastic as it covers many decades of makes and models mostly from the US with European makes also represented. There are a number of displays that also put the vehicles in a time warp as it would have looked when they were new. Tom even found a vehicle with all white tires (in the second gallery) that were made in Morrilton Arkansas, be sure to ask him about his connection. An old time dinner where lunch of hotdogs or other sandwiches can be had made the day complete. The trip was a lot of fun but a long day enjoyed by all of the guys.
