Cone Palace Drive 03/20
With short notice the night before and great weather predicted a quick trip was planned by John and Bill to try out the Cone Palace in Kokomo. Plans were finalized during the 10AM Saturday call, with a group of 6 Corvettes and 10 members meeting at McClure's on 31. Those able to go were John & Ruth, Bill & Erika, Greg & Donna, Bob & Cindy, Tom, and Charlie. Unfortunately Jim and Pam were unable to join in, but will certainly be asked another time as they both enjoy going to the Cone Palace and highly recommended it. The group has been using McClure's for a North meeting place which is convenient for all and usually pretty quiet. With Bob in the lead and Bill at the rear, so Erika could take driving pictures, the group headed out to 31 and North to 236 street. From there they went East and up Anthony. Unfortunately last Fall's chip and seal still had loose stones, so after a few miles of that the group headed back to 31 and directly North to the destination. Once there the group parked and was able to go inside to order their lunches and then head outside to enjoy them mostly in the sun. Multiple chili dogs and several root beer floats along with other ice cream treats were consumed and fully enjoyed. While there the group marveled at the steady stream of drive thru carry out, which was quickly handled by the friendly group of the Cone Palace. Once done the group broke up with some heading directly home and others a more circuitous route. Bill followed Bob as Bob & Cindy wanted to check out some of the other county roads back for future trips to the Palace as we will go back. Hopefully the next trip will have as beautiful a day as the first day of Spring turned out to be.
