Last Vette Drive of 2020? 11/28
With possible winter weather approaching, and some members even about to put their Corvettes up for the season, Randy and Sherry planned what might be the last drive. The final Saturday of November was actually very sunny and clear skies with the thermometer touching the low 50's so a beautiful day to do it. With an destination of Ertel winery four Corvettes of the group met at the church on 146 & Oak Ridge with Doug & Arminta, Bob & Cindy, Larry & Joy, and Bill & Erika in that group. While two others met at a church near 69, John & Ruth and Jim in that one. As the first group headed south on 465 to 74 the second merged from 69, just like they had planned it (not). The six continued heading to 74 and the Cracker Barrel in Shelbyville where the hosts were waiting for the 1pm on time arrival. Once quick bathroom stops were made the group headed East on 244 to the Corvette friendly 229 down into Batesville and the beautiful Ertel winery. After arriving it was decided by four of the couples that they would stay for lunch as the winery was not very busy. If it had been everyone would have just gone home, enjoying the drive there. They were soon seated at two large round tables which nicely kept everyone spaced apart. As in the past the Ertel winery food is excellent and still reasonably priced, along with their very good wine. As the group got ready to head to their homes it was already decided to make a return trip. hopefully with a Covid free summer, next year.
