Blackhawk Winery and Vineyard
Wine Cheese Chocolate Pairing
On the very damp Sunday before Thanksgiving, with no Corvettes harmed, seven COCI couples headed to Blackhawk Winery & Vineyard for an afternoon of learning what wines go with different types of cheese and chocolate, to enhance the taste of both. The afternoon's hosts were owners Deb and John Miller who did a great job of explaining the different pairing choices made by Deb, with John explaining how the wines were actually made. Both were very educational and the samplings were enjoyed by all, even a few that didn't try the wines. It all was surprisingly interesting in what goes with their different wines, cheese, & chocolate choices and with even the addition of fruit preserves. Many of the different cheese choices were ones that might normally not be thought of together and were even enhanced by a bit of different preserve suggestions that moved the taste even further along. It was an enjoyable afternoon, with the sun coming out for the drive home before the weather turned colder for turkey week.
