NC Trip 9/25 - 10/3
Bill & Erika headed to North Carolina to stay in the Lake Lure area and visit with Larry & Joy and Jim & Shelley. They had missed a trip of a couple of years ago with Paul & Londa, Wylie & Rita, and Larry & Donna due to Bill's DVT issue. Those couples had Larry and Joy for guides on that trip, along with visiting Jim & Shelley in Mooresville. With Lake Lure a 45 minute drive from Larry & Joy's home in Black Mountain they again became the area's tour guide for the new arrivals. On Saturday, after meeting at Larry & Joy's house, the two couples headed to a winery and then on to the Lake Lure Foxrun accommodations for Bill & Erika. On Sunday Larry's tour of Wineries continued starting with a drive to Little Switzerland and the great Corvette road that leads to it called the Diamond Back. This was a road that Larry had taken the group on two years ago with all getting shirts. so Bill got one too. Then on to a winery for a great afternoon. Monday had Jim & Shelley come up from Mooresville to spend the day driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway checking out tunnels, waterfalls and having a great lunch at a restaurant on the parkway. Larry had Jim wear his Diamondback shirt for Monday's day too, hence the picture below. Tuesday brought rain to the area and drives to a couple of the museums nearby on the parkway. No pictures allowed inside and very wet outside so none taken. Wednesday Bill & Erika stayed around Lake Lure to check the area out and spent some time at the Flowering Bridge before Larry & Joy joined them for an early dinner at the Legends on the Lake patio for a great meal. Thursday we headed for a winery near Lake Lure and then back to the welcome center for some 'Dirty Dancing' pictures before heading to dinner at the La Strada at Lake Lure for a great Italian dinner. Friday was another day to check out wineries, even getting into close by Henderson North Carolonia a beautiful old southern town. This was a great trip and we can not wait to revisit this area as Larry says there are a number of wineries still to see and enjoy.
