Indy 500 05/30
The day of the 500 was the best weather in years as it was in the 70's and very sunny. Those able to attend were our club's track worker Jim with the closeup from the pit he was working at, Charlie from his suite, and Mark from the SW grandstands. Mark's commented that it was strange to see no one in the infield, hopefully that will change next year. The videos at the bottom are from Paul's neighbor who's brother was the squadron leader and flew the F16 for the fly over to start the day's event. Paul reported some facts about it, as the National Anthem takes 93 seconds with fly over to happen at the 92 second mark and it takes 37 seconds to format and fly from Indianapolis International to the pinpoint at IMS. Paul also had a 2000 foot practice flyover his house at 10AM on Saturday, which he said was loud. After the IMS flyover the brother got to the track and was treated like a 'rock star' being asked for autographs and pictures, certainly a true Memorial Day experience for all.
