2018 Meeting Nights

They are more that just business meetings as they have turned in to bi monthly social time with a quickly held meeting at the end. To take part in the full evening get to current location of the Carmel American Legion by around 5:30, thereby beating the traffic have the buffet and enjoy the time to meet new and old members before the 7:00 Meeting time.
We hope to see YOU there.

12/03/2018
The last meeting of the year was again well attended with over 90 members enjoying the warmth of the indoors at the Carmel Legion along with other Corvette Indy friends. The evening's weather was getting colder with a bit of dampness so no Corvettes ventured out. The business meeting went fairly quickly with a longer discussion on what events the club should do during the 2019 driving season with new Drive N Dine destinations and holding the annual Main Event autocross along with the Vettes N Vets All Corvette Show. Next big event is the club's Christmas Party being held on Saturday December 8 again at the Legion. Next meeting is on Monday January 7, 2019
All of the Corvette Indy members wish everyone a joyous Christmas Holiday Season.
11/19/2018
With the Corvette driving season coming to a close the last meeting in November still had a great crowd of 86 members and guests attending. During the meeting Ray introduced the new officers for 2018 that had been elected the previous meeting. There was also a report from Paul on which charities we will be giving to along with helping three families much like last year.
11/05/2018
Monday's meeting had a full house of 132 members in attendance for the annual elections. With three contested offices for the first time a number of years paper ballots were used for a fully secret election. The election results are Ray Chester - President, Steve Shepard - Vice President, Keith Riley - Parliamentarian, with uncontested offices of Governor - Bob Hensley, Treasurer -John Herder, Secretary - Sharon Arnold, Competition Director - John Vess, Membership Director - Wylie Etscheid, Sargent-at-arms - Marg Herder, Merchandise Director - Arminta Inbody, and Newsletter Editor - Jody Hall filling out the elected offices. While the ballots were counted the rest of the regular business meeting was held with several motions being made during it. Please see the newsletter for full information.
10/15/2018
With a cool Fall evening a number of the 100 members enjoyed the buffet and before meeting social time which has become a hallmark of Corvette Indy meeting nights. We also celebrated Phil's 90th Birthday the previous weekend with everyone getting a piece of cake. Great job Phil, may other members emulate your longevity. Once the meeting started the officer reports were short as possible so that the nominations for next year's officers could be done. Several offices have two members running for them, so there will definitely be elections during the October 5 meeting. Nominations will be reopened at that meeting prior to the elections taking place.
10/01/2018
Another great early Fall evening brought out over 30 Corvettes and nearly 100 members to the first meeting in October. Much of the meeting recapped the extremely successful Main Event held the previous weekend, even with the venue change to Grissom we had a full number of workers to put on another great event that Corvette Indy is know for, as we got many complements from competitors and other club workers too. With that recap and other discussions of upcoming events including a DnD to Beef House this Thursday, another DnD to Ann's Restaurant on Saturday and the Chili supper in a few weeks, the meeting went until after 8. The club remains busy in the month of October. Be sure to keep an eye out for emails as last minute Hookey Player DnD's are being planned too.
09/17/2018
On a beautiful late summer evening around 100 members and 40 Corvettes attended the second meeting of September. As always lots of socializing before the 7:00 start, along with a quick Main Event meeting by Butch to remind everyone that it is now only a couple of weekends away. The meeting went a bit long with officer reports and other discussions taking up the evening that it was actually dark as everyone left. Bob displayed a quart of the new US formula 0W-40 Mobil 1 oil that is now used in all 2019 Corvettes and suggested for all C7's. Be sure to look at the picture of the bottle in the meeting pictures so that you purchase the correct version for your Corvette.
Again as a reminder our 29th Annual Main Event is on the September 29 & 30 weekend.

09/04/2018
The first meeting of September was a special one on Tuesday due to the Labor Day weekend. With beautiful but very hot muggy weather 96 members and a number of Corvettes made it to the meeting. A number of things were covered so be sure to read the meeting's newsletter for all of the news. Among those items were the great display of Corvette Indy information at the NCM that is one of two clubs honored for the next 12 months. It was put up by Ray & Jerry with a lot of club memorabilia. Upcoming events include the club's annual memorial picnic on 9/8, Corvettes are needed for the following Home Coming Parades, 9/14 Fisher's HS, 9/27 Westfield HS, and 9/29 Butler College, all need more volunteers. The 29th annual Main Event will be held on the September 29 & 30 weekend with workers needed. As always keep an eye out for club emails with the latest news and upcoming events.
08/20/2018
The second meeting of August had a great turnout of 101 members but due to storms in the area no Corvettes were found in the lots around the Legion on this evening. The meeting recapped the club's extremely successful Vettes N Vets car show, that had 215 Corvettes attend, with accolades to Jimmie and Donna for their super job. Also thanked were their team of workers along with special thanks to Marian for all of the work she and her team did getting a large number of items gathered for the raffles. A number of other items were also covered during the meeting  including our next big club sponsored event of Main Event on September 29 & 30.
08/06/2018
August's first meeting had another great turnout of 109 members and a number of Corvettes scattered through out the Legion's lot. A meeting for the upcoming Vettes N Vets All Corvette Car show was held for it's workers before dinner as it will happen on August 18, before the next club meeting. At the beginning of the regular meeting it was voted to hold the first meeting in September on Tuesday September 4 instead of Labor Day, as the Legion can handle us and the Euchre players too! The rest of the meeting had numerous reports, including a recap of the NCCC Convention held in New Orleans. The upcoming events include member Tim McCord's Princess Theater car show in Rushville on Saturday 8/11 and the club's all Corvette show at the American Legion on August 18. It was reported that we had nearly 150 Corvettes preregistered and a number of donated items to help the charities we support.

07/16/2018
Eighty seven members and guests and a good number of Corvettes arrived for the second meeting of July. Unfortunately the Corvette owners can no longer say that they have never been in the rain, as there was a 10 minute shower before the meeting. The meeting went very quickly as reports were short, but a bit of time was spent recounting the two big weekend parties, the Beach Boys concert hosted by the Coles, and the Christmas in July party hosted by the Shermans. Anyone that went to either or both had a great time. To celebrate July birthdays a number of cakes showed up, so definitely everyone got a piece that wanted one. We also had a couple of members that had been having health issues attend and both reported that they are doing much better. Upcoming events include the trip to SE Indiana and the Penske Car Show in mid August. The meeting wrapped up by 7:45 to many cheers!

07/02/2018
The July 2 meeting kicked off the holiday week with 99 members and guests along with a number of Corvettes at the Carmel American Legion. With a number of past and upcoming events to discuss the meeting went a bit long, but as usual was interspersed with many moments of fun and laughter. Recent car shows were discussed including Sunday's Village of West Clay and their donations to our two favorite charities. Upcoming events include a mini parade and dinner afterwards on Tuesday, Carmel Parade on Wednesday the 4th, multiple upcoming cars shows, and the rallies and autocross in Anderson this coming weekend for a full holiday week! Also promoted, with many wearing their Hawaiian shirts, is the Christmas in July party the following weekend along with the Penske car show on August 18. As it has been said before, if you can't find something to do with this club you aren't trying. Be sure to read the latest newsletter as it was published at 8:00 am on Tuesday for your reading enjoyment.

Not only is June heating up with LOTS of Corvette Indy events it is also just plain hot weather too! The second meeting of the month was again well attended with over 90 members and 35 Corvettes in attendance. After most had finished eating and before the meeting Happy Birthday's were extended to June babies and two cakes cut and served for everyone's enjoyment. As the meeting started there were several guests introduced that will soon become members. We are also getting new members through car shows and other events. As Ray continued the meeting many 'no reports' were given in an attempt to move along. The 2018 Main Event t-shirt was shown with a return to the previous design with the addition of Autocross on the banner. It will be in a Navy Blue this year, with Arminta taking prepaid orders now. The longest report was Jim's, our social director, as there is so much happening yet in June and in to July with many Car Shows, Drive N Dines, and the usual weekly events. Also there is Bloomington Gold this coming weekend with club members working on the autocross and Corvettes on the Circle on Friday night.
06/04/2018
The first meeting of June had great weather which brought out 45 Corvettes and over 90 members including several new ones added just in the past few weeks. The meeting had a number of reports but again went quickly. Past events were covered including the region's Putnam Park Autocross, multiple car shows, and especially the celebration of life for Bob Philips during the Memorial Day weekend. Upcoming events include Keith's Hunt for the Best Tenderloin with the next one on June 7. Also the June 9 weekend has multiple car shows along with several Father Day shows starting with Jody's show on June 14 and in to the weekend. We also had a visitor, Jerry Bridges, from the Hoosier Corvette Club inviting us to join them on their overnight trips that they are planning this summer. Look for more information on those and all of our other upcoming events in the update emails that Jim Shaver sends out to club members.
05/21/2018

The last meeting in May, with possible storms, had fewer Corvettes in the lot but another full American Legion banquet hall as again there were 100 plus members in attendance. With basically an hour and a half eating and social time before the meeting start everyone got to review past and upcoming events. Also before the meeting Arminta was busy at her merchandise table getting a number of orders for new shirts, hats, and other items. During the meeting Ray and Greg talked about how great our sponsor Penske is to the club in getting us passes to IMS track events. This has become a big part of May for many club members to enjoy and everyone appreciates it. Other events discussed included the Go Kart event a few weekends ago, several Drive N Dines, and the upcoming last IMS track event.
Also in two weeks the upcoming Indiana Region's Autocross at Putnam Park on June 2 & 3.
05/07/2018
The magnificent weather contributed to a large turnout of nearly 50 Corvettes and over 110 Corvette Indy members and guests. Ray opened the meeting with a presentation by David Morton of Mecum Auctions. David answered quite a few questions about the auction process and passed out fold-open catalogs of some of the 2,000 vehicles to be auctioned. David also provided six free tickets to the upcoming auction next week, May 15 – 20. The free tickets were raffled off with some other goodies. When you pulled into the Carmel American Legion it was difficult to not see a red with white cove 1957 270hp Corvette. Brent and Betty Williams recently acquired the rare car from a friend who had owned it for over 35 years. Among many other topics discussed during the meeting, Ray briefly talked about the successful Vettes For Vets event held on May 5 at the Indiana Veteran’s Home in West Lafayette. Corvette Indy received a plaque for the best represented club with 24 Vettes. Over 140 Vettes participated overall. Between a donation by the club and individual club members, $1,800 was donated to the IVH in behalf of Corvette Indy.
04/16/2018
Will Spring ever get here was on everyone's mind at the meeting with spitting snow and temps in the low 30's. Even with another evening of non Corvette weather 84 members attended. The meeting started on time but with a number of reports and other business ran until about 8. It then was followed by a "Cleaning Your Corvette Tips" session presented by several members for those that stayed late. With car shows popping up on the calendar those tips will be used by a number of the members soon. Part of the meeting was covering the upcoming Rallies that start at the Legion on Saturday morning. It was confirmed that if some end up driving their metal car they will still get Corvette Indy points for competing. The Awards banquet was reported on, with 11 members getting awards or jackets from the past Indiana Region competition season and the club earned 3rd place in points. Other items covered were the moving of the Kart afternoon to May 12, members going to the NCM Bash on April 26-28 and Jerry is looking for more to go along, and the upcoming Governor's meeting in St. Louis May 4-5.

04/02/2018
With the morning starting out with 5" of snow on the grass, a late April Fool's joke, the day then cleared up to the point where 11 Corvettes were scattered through out the parking lot for the meeting. Along with the Corvettes there were 90 members in attendance, a new spring time record. With April 2 actually being Erika's birthday Bill had asked Rita to get a cake for a surprise celebration, which was shared with everyone after Happy Birthday was sung. Once the meeting started some of reports went a bit long, which meant a later than usual meeting departure. During the meeting William & Sharon discussed their upcoming Kart & DnD afternoon on April 14 which over 25 have signed up for. Keith's Hunt for the Best Pork Tenderloin starts and heads to Rushville on Thursday 4/12. Also coming up on April 21 are the four Corvette Indiana rallies starting from the American Legion, be sure to check out the flyer and register early to save $5 on the day's events. The meeting ended a bit after 8, with clear roads but with rain coming.
03/19/2018
The last day of Winter that had cool but dry weather brought out 11 Corvettes and 85 members to the mid March meeting. The before meeting buffet and social time was enjoyed by all to the extent that the Legion's manager even commented that everyone must be having fun due to the noise level. When the meeting got under way the jocularity still continued as the officer reports were given in their usual humorous manner. Included in the upcoming events that were discussed is another day at simulator training on Saturday 3/19, an afternoon at a Kart track on 4/14, club rallies on April 21, and the date for this year's memorial picnic has been confirmed for September 9. The meeting ended before 8, with a number
of members mingling about the large room afterwards.

Two Corvettes along with 76 members were at the first meeting in March, with all enjoying the meeting's new starting time of 7 PM. The buffet was again great and the before meeting social time filled with lots of different conversations. During the meeting officer reports were given along with recaps of recent events including the Friday evening party at the Piercy's and Saturday's Under the Damar Big Top Gala, both enjoyed by the many members that attended them. Upcoming events include the usual weekly ones and starting in April the "Hunt for Indiana's Best Pork Tenderloin" which will be on multiple Thursdays through out the summer. The first Corvette Indy region event will be our rallies that are set for April 21 and starting from the Carmel American Legion's big parking lot.

The club's second meeting in February was well attended with nearly 75 members on a damp but warming evening. As with past meeting nights the before meeting buffet was great and enjoyed by all. With the fact that we now can be self served for our meal and actually get finished quicker it was decided during the meeting to now start it at 7:00 beginning with the March 5 meeting. This will certainly give us more after meeting DQ time in the summer! The rally committee met before the main meeting and is making plans for the April 21 one Fun and three Chance rallies. The meeting itself went quickly with officer reports and some old and new business handled along with the usual hilarity during it. Be sure to read the minutes in the newsletter for more information.

The first meeting in February had 73 members attend on a cold and what became snowy evening. The before meeting meal was plentiful and enjoyed by all along with the couple of hours of social time. The meeting went well with several of the reports being skipped due to officers out sick or on vacation. During this meeting a motion was brought up and passed to make the Camel Legion Post the permanent location for meetings as it has been working out so well. It will be nice to have a location that has a lot of parking, great food, and room for well over 100 members to attend meetings as we head in to summer. Other upcoming events were also covered.
(Note: The Webmaster was among the missing so no pictures of the meeting but It Did Happen!)

January's meeting, in the middle of the month, was on an extremely cold and snow covered evening but still had 62 hardy members making it there. The food and soups were hot to warm everyone before the meeting time, which certainly helped. An ice cream cake also appeared to commemorate Ray's first meeting, a reminiscence of Champps birthday cakes. New president Ray brought the meeting to order at 7:30 with officer reports soon following. During Sharon's report Gregg Ernest remembered Bob Phillips, one of our original members, who had passed away over the holidays. Activity awards were made to Mark & Donna for scoring the most club points during 2017. Later in the evening past president Wylie was presented the coveted presidents jacket for his years of service. During Bill's Governors report he noted the positions needing help for the 2020 NCCC convention in Indianapolis to take place. Look for an email from Jim Shaver with the full list and descriptions. He also announced that due to a conflict with a St. Louis club the dates for this year's Main Event will be moved to September 29 & 30. Butch is still working on confirming the Airport parking lot as the location, but will not know for sure until later in the spring. Also during the meeting Charlie joined it on Facetime from his hospital bed, as he had his left hip replaced earlier in the day. Everyone wished him well and a speedy recovery.
