2014 Westfield Homecoming Parade
On a bright an sunny Thursday afternoon, September 18, the annual Westfield HS Homecoming Parade was held for the final time from the starting point of the current football stadium location. As in recent years Corvette Indy supplied Club Corvettes and drivers for Camaros supplied by Penske to give rides for the court and other dignitaries along the parade route within the Westfield Middle and High School Campus. The seasonable temperatures allowed for all of the convertible tops to be down and display the court in their finery, a welcome change from some of the previous year's that were cold and wet afternoons. Jim & Pam brought their two day old C7, with Jim getting the honor of driving the Mayor of Westfield. Prior to the start many of the members were congregating around the new convertible and admiring the Night Race Blue color in the sun. The Parade went off without a hitch and wound it's way through the campus and near by streets. Many of the parade participants threw candy to the crowd of children along the streets, making navigation a challenge for the club's drivers. It was also nice to note that the bands could march and play at the same time which kept things moving along. As always the Corvette Indy club is happy to assist Mike Quinn of Chevrolet and Penske in being a part of the Westfield Homecoming Parade.

A note from Greg about the parade:
Thank you to all the Corvette Indy members that came out and supported our friend Mike Quinn and Westfield High School at their annual Home Coming Parade! Thanks also to Brett Rozzi and Penske Chevrolet for supplying 6 beautiful new Camaro convertibles to help out with the parade!
A total of 15 Corvette Indy Corvettes and 6 Corvette Indy drivers for the Penske Camaros helped out in the event.
Westfield was well organized and had each car pre-assigned with the car parking spots numbered on the concrete so once we arrived we were quickly parked in the correct line-up for the parade. Each driver was given a gift bag containing 2 brown bag lunches that really hit the spot! Mike Quinn also passed out some neat Chevrolet Bowtie caps. Thanks Mike!
Westfield had requested 16 cars and thanks to some volunteers that cleared their schedule at the last minute we ended up 21 cars. Three of the extra cars were immediately drafted into service, presumably as some very welcome replacements for some other organization's "no shows". The other two just brought up the back of the parade which was comical because Chris White's Vette was last in line and right behind him was the Westfield Police car with lights and siren going throughout the parade!
Those that provided Corvettes for the parade included: Jeff B, Greg & Donna B, Wylie E, Al F, Jim K (in his 1 day old C7 convertible), Pam K, Bill L, Erika L, Mike L, Lynn P, Barry R, Jeff R, Eileen S Mike T and Chris W. Those that drove Penske Camaros included: Terry A, Jim N, Shelley N, Bill R, Jim Sr and Terry S.
The event went off without a hitch. The caravan from Penske to Westfield was an easy one with just a couple of right turns and light traffic. The trip back was a little more difficult as it was not possible to get out of the mass exodus from Westfield in one group but everyone eventually made it back to Penske, even Jim N in the Camaro that went on reserve gas during the parade and started beeping at him! It probably made him almost as nervous as Chris W was (trying to evade the Westfield Police all the way through the parade) but the car stayed running all the way home!
