2014 Meeting Nights

Meeting Nights have become more social than business meeting and enjoyed by all members.
Enjoy seeing pictures and what happened at each 2014 meeting and afterwards.

12/01/2014
The final meeting of 2014 brought out 72 of our 203 members and 11 of their Corvettes. The evening was cold but the large group soon warmed up Champps backroom enjoying the fireplace, lively conversation, and great food. The fare included several mile high pies, which were enjoyed by a number of members.  At the start of the meeting since this was Greg's last one as president he announced a number of 'Presidential Pardons" see the newsletter for the hilarious list. The year's attendance awards were presented by Robert along with those who earned either an Elite or Ultimate Patch for 2014. Other items discussed were possible charities to make a donation to and the upcoming Christmas Party on December 6 at the Carmel American Legion Post
11/17/2014
The weather for the meeting with the season's first measurable snow was enough to keep Corvettes away but not the hardy Corvette Indy members including 6 new and 1 former member who joined the club for the upcoming 2015 season. The evenings business included going over the past few week's events including the Veterans Day Parade and trip to Ray's Classic Cars. Upcoming events include the Club's Christmas party on December 6 at the Carmel American Legion with over 120 members planning on attending. Other events include the weekly Drive N Dunks, and short notice "Dines" with Corvette driving is about done for awhile. New business included making donations to Spina Bifida for their Christmas party and family and to the Wheeler Mission to support their continuous good works. Another great meeting with Corvette friends.
Thanks to Jack and Butch for the meeting pictures.
The Hawk pictured below was not at the meeting, but having it's evening meal at a member's house.
11/03/2014
With a nearly perfect early November evening 30 Corvettes and 72 members attended the meeting where next year's officers were elected.  We also added a new member bringing us to 221 members for the year. The back room of Champps was very full and fairly noisy as the meeting started a bit early so that the evenings business could be conducted and members head for home to watch the Colts. The previous meeting's slate of candidates was basically approved as there were no new nominations. Other items covered were the upcoming Veterans Day Parade and Christmas Party also the previous week's Trip to Overlook and the Halloween Spooktacular party, both of which got their hosts new beads as part of the Bead Club. Appreciation plaques were also given out to this year's officers and appointed positions for their service. The meeting was quick, even with all of the business conducted and members headed home in time for the game to start.
10/20/2014
The day finally turned sunny and 18 Corvettes made their way to Champps along with over 65 members and guests, including two new members that just signed up, for a total of 219 members going into renewals. After the usual evening social time the meeting started where recent events were discussed including the past weekend's rallies, several Drive N Dines, and the Butler Parade recap. There was also note of upcoming events including Great Pumpkin Weekend, Susie's trip to the Ohio river area, Veterans Parade, and Christmas party with 116 signed up. In new business nominations for all of the 2015 officer positions were opened up for the first round. All positions except one have a nominee with nominations being reopened at the November 3 meeting and elections held upon their close that evening. Even with all of the items covered the meeting was a short 45 minutes. As the meeting broke up the members found their Corvettes a bit damp as it had just started to sprinkle, so everyone hustled for home.
10/06/2014
With the chance of storms a few members left their Corvettes at home while a number of others did not listen to the weather and brought theirs out. Fortunately the predicted hail did not come and all the Corvettes got home safely. The Christmas party now has 114 signed up December 6 party. We also gained a new member at the meeting taking us to 216. Brown County Fun day was discussed with Butch & Tammy giving out prizes to the three couples that answered all of the rally questions with everyone else that participated getting a certificate. Upcoming events were also discussed including the Michiana Rallies next Saturday, the Fall Tour on Sunday and Susie's upcoming trip to Overlook. A busy fall full of events before the Corvettes are put away for their winter rest. Officer nominations will be open next meeting with elections October 3. Unfortunately no pictures of the evening were submitted.
09/15/2014
With the Colts in town and playing a Monday Night game along with it being a rainy night the meeting still had over 50 members in attendance. The meeting went fairly quickly with a number of new Bead Members inducted along with a few repeat members for recently held events including the Memorial Picnic and several drives. Plans were announced for the Region Brown County Fun Day on October 5, which the club will attend but hold their own drive to the park. Other important events coming up are the Westfield Homecoming Parade on Thursday 9/18 and the Butler Homecoming Parade on Saturday 9/27. Both parades will need Corvettes to carry the courts and dignitaries. Plans were also announced for the Corvette Indy Christmas Party to be held on December 6 at the Carmel American Legion. Please check the Event Listing for other upcoming events.
09/02/2014
On a special night of Tuesday the day after Labor Day Monday the Corvette Indy meeting was held at Champps. It was a beautiful evening for Corvette Indy members to drive to the September 2 meeting. The big attraction was Carol and Keith S.'s new 2015 Stingray, the first for the club. Members were giving it a careful look-see and did notice some subtle changes. Al F became the newest member of the 'out of gas' club for very nearly running out of gas while in Bowling Green last Thursday before dinner at Montana Grille. The meeting also covered the past few weeks events including the NCM 20th Anniversary Tour and the upcoming Zionsville Parade on Saturday September 6 and the drive to Ertel's Winery on Sunday September 7.
08/18/2014
The dry evening brought out 35 Corvettes and over 70 members including 5 new ones to the second meeting in August. This puts our total membership at 210, an all time high. A good portion of the meeting was a recap of the extremely successful 25th Anniversary Dinner the previous Saturday evening which 140 members and guests enjoyed. We also discussed the upcoming Lafayette Road Discount Tire Store club only Corvette show on Sunday August 24. It will be followed with a Club Corvette picture to be taken at the Lincoln College Parking Lot that will be submitted to Blue Bars, the NCCC magazine, for publication.
08/04/2014
With varied weather forecasts the Corvette count was down in the mid 20's, but the membership attendance was possibly an all time high of over 80 members in attendance. The group included four couples that signed up a few days before or during the meeting to bring the club's membership count near 210. Also during the meeting our Facebook page reached 201 Likes! Meeting discussions included the upcoming Drive N Dine on Saturday 8/9 to Southern Indiana and our 25th Anniversary Dinner on Saturday August 16. For those of the 145 members going to the dinner, doors open at 5:00 pm with the program starting at 6:15, and dinner planned for 7:00. During the meeting a brief downpour happened, so be sure to check out the meeting pictures below as some of the Corvettes pictured have not seen rain for a while. Fortunately none of them melted or rusted!
07/21/2014
No rain brought out a record number of Corvettes (38) and members (70) to the second meeting of July. Plans for the 25 Anniversary part are going forward, final date to sign up is next meeting 8/4. Many items were covered including Friday' s day at the track and that Penske provided enough tickets for the Corvette Corral and Chevrolet luncheon that any member that wanted to could go to it. Greg has also arranged for a police escort to the track, which is always fun. The list of items coming up in August including the Mystery DND on 8/9 and NCM Caravan at the end of August. Before the meeting Frank also demoed his helicopter that we can use to get aerial shots of club cars for a 25th Anniversary Picture at the Lincoln College Parking lot, possibly Sunday 8/24 after the Discount Tire Cruise In. With the weather so nice a number of the members headed to the after meeting DQ get together for more discussions and a dairy treat.
07/07/2014
With the summer evening predicting possible rain the Corvette count at 5 was low but 69 members and guests still headed to Champps for the first meeting in July. The meeting covered a number of items, including the busy preceding weeks of parades and car shows, with a Corvette count of 38 in the Carmel Parade as an example of club participation. At the Westfield Rocks the 4th show Mel had received a trophy for 'Oldest Participant', an award many will aspire to win in future years. Upcoming events were discussed including Lincoln Tech's Car Show and the Anderson Rallies on Saturday July 12. Plans continue for the 25th Anniversary Dinner, and other future events including weekend Drive N Dines. The meeting also recognized a couple of new members to the battery club as President of the club Dick P presented the moving trophy to Jim A as VP and Bob Y is now Treasurer. Dick also gave the gas can award to Jeff B as Jeff needed to fill up on a recent cruise. This also cleaned out Dick's garage of awards. After the meeting, for the first time this year, 3 Corvettes and a number of metal cars headed to the DQ at 71st & Keystone for an after meeting dairy treat. Another great Corvette Indy Meeting night.
06/16/2014
A warm evening brought a number of members and Corvettes out to the night's meeting. This was the first meeting after the Main Event, with a few reports and presentations making up a good portion of the meeting. Among the presentations was a miniture leaf blower given to Bob for his 'Corvette Indy Spirit' and representation of the whole club doing what ever is needed to make the Main Event a success. Butch received a plaque for his work with Lincoln College and the new partnership with them. Pam got recognized for all of her work at the food tent (especially her addition of Taco Salad). In other business Judi brought in the finished quilt which will be auctioned off at the 25th Anniversary Dinner August 16. The next big event is the Penske Car Show coming up on June 21 from 5 to 8 at our sponsor's dealership.
On a sad note, Greg reported that member Tom Siffermann had passed away on June 10, a memorial page will be posted in his memory.

06/02/2014
A wet evening still saw 66 members and guests at the first meeting in June, but only 2 Corvettes ventured out.  The meeting had many topics including final plans for the upcoming weekend's Main Event Autocross at Lincoln College with working club members setting the course up at 7:00 - registration starting at 8. We also had updates on the upcoming 25th Anniversary Dinner, parades, car shows and all of the other events club members enjoy. Bob gave our sponsor Penke's report of new and used Corvettes available. At the end of the evening our guest Levi from Discount Tires talked a bit about services he can provide for club members including the fact that he has 2 full sets of C7 spec tires in stock if someone has a need. He also loaned us a tent and made donations of gift certificates for Main Event. The regular meeting was followed up with the final Main Event planning meeting which found everyone ready to have a fun and successful weekend.

05/19/2014
The weather gets better and the members come out to fill Champps! The second meeting in May had over 74 members and guests along with 34 beautiful Corvettes in the lot. The meeting covered a number of items from Sunday's Chevy Track day and our appreciation of Brett at Penske, Mike of Chevrolet and Greg, along with other members assistance, in setting everything up. We also discussed many upcoming events including Night before the 500, Main Event, 25th Anniversary Dinner, and upcoming car shows including a presentation on the Westfield Rocks the 4th. Butch gave us a recap of the weekends racing and upcoming Regional Events including Putnam Park & Main Event. Brent announced the date of September 14 for this year's Club Memorial Picnic at a new location of Southeastway Regional Park near New Palestine. As always watch for emails with more information on all of the events enjoyed by members of the club.

05/05/2014
The first meeting in May was the best weather so far this year which brought out 35 Corvettes and over 75 members including 5 new ones! Many trips were made out to the parking lot to check out the beautiful sight. During the meeting there were many items covered plus we had two guests from Mid America Motorworks with Betsy giving us an update on this September's Fun Fest. They also talked about their revised website and are soliciting comments. Other club business included upcoming IMS track day events, look for more information in emails. It was also announce that Corvette Indy is the Regions largest NCCC club. Plans continue for both the upcoming Main Event June 7-8, 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner August 16, and NCM 20th Anniversary Caravan August 27-30. Just a few of this summer's many events, check the calendar for something you would like to do. New bead club members were also announced for recently held drives & events.
04/21/2014
With a few storms predicted a good group of over 60 members including newly signed and a dozen Corvettes were at the Monday after Easter meeting. The evening was busy with a 25th Anniversary planning meeting at 5:30 and a Main Event meeting after the regular meeting. Plans for both major events are going smoothly, with Main Event just over 6 weeks away. During the evenings meeting the first of this year's Bead Club Members were acknowledged for hosting an assortment of events so far in 2014. Included in other business was approval for a 25th Anniversary Cook Book to be created and sold, also final orders were taken for Main Event T-Shirts. Other events are also in the planning stage, with IMS weekend events still to be announced. Greg also talked about the upcoming Penske Car show and Penske's generous sponsorship of it. We also had a Penske report from Bob, our new liaison to our sponsor, since Brett Rozzi was unable to attend this meeting.
04/07/2014
A cold and rainy night still brought out 78 members and friends to Champps for the first meeting in April. The nights meeting was fairly short, with reminders about upcoming major club events including our big Main Event Autocross the weekend of June 6-7, Penske Car Show on June 21, Lincoln Tech Car show July 12, and the 25th Corvette Indy Anniversary Dinner on August 16. These along with many other events are on the Corvette Indy calendar and will be enjoyed by all of the current 160 club members. We will also be contacting Penske, our sponsor, about upcoming IMS track events that will happen during the month of May and enjoyed by club members. Hopefully the April rains not only bring May flowers, but many sunny days for driving a Corvette.

03/17/2014
St. Patrick's Day brought out 13 Corvettes and 63 members including a new that joined at the meeting. A number of the members had green on, including a Michigan fan, celebrating the day. Prior to the meeting members headed out to the parking lot to view the Corvettes including Robert's Night Race Blue C7. During the meeting a motion was made to have the club pay 1/2 of the August 16 Memorial Dinner cost for each member that attends. After a short discussion about finances needed to do it, the motion passed. We also discussed the upcoming 10/10s days on April 5 - 6 at Putnam Park as the club has a discount for members on that weekend. Husband & Wives will be able to share the runs on those days. After the meeting a short Main Event planning meeting was held to cover items needed for the June 7 & 8 autocross events
.
03/03/2014
The first meeting of March was held on another extremely cold evening, but the fire in the hearth warmed the 60 plus members and guests in attendance. The meeting started on time with Greg getting the officers reports during which Merchandise Director Arminta said that she will be taking orders for the Main Event T Shirts as only one mass order will be placed to obtain the best price for them. She is also taking orders for 25th Anniversary Patches in multiple color choices. New Governor Butch then discussed several items from the previous weekend's Indian Region governors meeting, where we found out that we are one member behind the Fort Wayne Corvette Club, historically the region's largest club. The meeting then moved on to a bit more discussion about the 25th Anniversary Dinner which will be held on August 16 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. There will be a choice from a couple of menu items, with more information coming at subsequent meetings.

The first meeting of February was on a nice sunny day but cold evening that kept the member count down to 60, including 2 new members. This puts the club over the 150 member mark! Reports were fairly quick with the previous and upcoming Winter parties mentioned. A large part of the meeting was finalizing which venue to go to for our 25 Anniversary Celebration Dinner with the Ritz Charles being voted in. The date for the dinner is August 16, a Saturday evening. This will be a huge event, with Corvettes on display inside the Ritz! Other meeting topics included the Penske Car Show and the Lincoln Car Show with the information that Bill Zimmerman has retired and we now have new and very enthusiastic contacts at the school. Carolyn J also celebrated her birthday with a huge slice of ice cream cake, which she generously shared with others near her. Another great meeting at Champps!

The second meeting of January, first one for many years, was attended by 40 members, including a new one! Pat reported that we are now up to 149 members, a really good start to the year. The meeting was fairly short with the main topic being initial plans for a 25th Anniversary Dinner with the group voting that is should be held on a Saturday, if possible. More will be discussed, including potential dates, at the February 3 meeting. Upcoming events were announced, with the previous weekend party now scheduled for the 25th, and the second Winter party still scheduled for February 8. Al returned his C7 poster that he won at the Christmas party and had it raffled off for the charity fund with Barry winning it.

It was the first meeting of the year, but held three days late due to the beginning of the year snow storm and subzero temperatures that followed. With the changed date and snowing there were only 26 hardy members who had cabin fever and needed to get out. Those attending were treated to a short meeting with mainly discussion about our 25th Club Anniversary dinner this summer and a couple of possible venues locations. More will be discussed at the next meeting We also had Judi A offer to make a commemorative quilt from donated T shirts for an 25th anniversary charity raffle. Our sponsor, Penske Chevrolet, was also thanked for supplying the majority of the 60 tickets made available to members for the 2014 Indianapolis Auto Show!
