Cape Coral Veterans Park Show - 11/15/14
Dave J, a new member from Terre Haute must be spending some time in Florida as he sent the pictures in to Greg with these comments: I hate to do this to you but a couple of pics from last weekend down here. The white C5 is ours, and yes I did get a sunburn. Greg's response: Now that's rubbing it in! There are a lot of white C5s up here too but its from the snow on top. |
Breast Cancer Awareness Car Show
Al and Terri F. were at the show and sent in the following report and pictures.
On a somewhat delightful day with a hint of fall, Al entered the Breast Cancer Awareness car show in Avon, In. for the second year. Valiantly representing CI, he polished and waited. The dunk beforehand was more meaningful. At 2:00 the awards were given away as promised. The Camaro club won the club with most members present. Al took no pictures of the new Camaros since he only likes the first generation Camaros (he had a 1967). At the omega of the presentations, it was realized that no car newer that 1970 won any awards. There were a couple of slick "shoe boxes", Chevelles, and a C5 with airbrush on the bodywork. The highlight of the show was the appearance of my daughter with my 28 month old grand-daughter in tow.
(Every time she sees a yellow car on the road, she says, "there's grandpa's car"). Ah..
The big shocker- the AC Cobra replica did NOT win best of show. Walking away with that award was the owner of a 1955 two tone Ford Sunliner.
Would I enter this show again in the future?...NO.

Union Bible College
Despite the blustery, windy day, Wylie E and Al F valiantly represented CI at the Union Bible College Fall festival/car show on Saturday Oct 4. There were many students and families enjoying the crafts and food in a large tent on the grounds.
After re-detailing, we endured the onslaught of the weather until the announcement at 1:30 that presentation of the door prizes and awards would commence. The first door prize went to car #11. Hey, that's me! Al aggressively walked up to collect the $50. Next winner was #12. Hey, that's Wylie. He followed Al's example and captured another $50. Admittedly there were only 5 Corvettes entered, but Al F was lucky enough to come away with the trophy for "Best Corvette". President's choice award went to the ever-present Cobra replica. So Wylie E and Al F made off with $100, a trophy, and valuable male bonding.
