Flowers & Dine in Cicero 06/29
As they did a few years ago Norma and Mel Minion opened their garden up for a viewing by club members and others from her Master Gardener Club to view the award winning flowers and other plantings that Norma has. With the really wet spring everything was very lush for a great early afternoon event. Once done Greg and Donna led the group on a circuitous route to DeLullo's Trattoria in Cicero to finish out what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far.
Greg sent in the Facebook write-up for the 'rest of the story' on the drive there:
As they did in previous years, Norma and Mel Minion invited Corvette Indy members to their beautiful Noblesville home and Norma opened her garden up for viewing by the club members and others from her Master Gardener Club. With the really wet spring everything was very lush for a great early afternoon event. Greg and Donna then led the group on a Drive N Dine through Cicero, north and east on some back roads and eventually onto SR213 and SR37 and back to Cicero. We arrived ahead of schedule because Greg couldn't follow his own directions and missed a turn when he had communication problems with his chief navigator. Thus we accidentally cut out some of the planned drive. It turned out to be for the better though because the section we missed eventually became a one lane trace and part of the back of the caravan would have ended up behind a slow moving farm vehicle with no room to pass it. John Burkhardt called it Divine Intervention, Greg called it good planning. Getting to the restaurant a little early was not a problem though as they were ready and waiting for us. DeLullo's Trattoria had opened over 2 hours early just for Corvette Indy so we had reserved parking and the restaurant to ourselves. The food and the service were both great. It was a nice finish to what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far. Greg learned NEVER give out printed directions and then no one will ever know when you can't follow them yourself!
Thank you Mel & Norma for a very fun afternoon!
