2018 Drive or Duff

Last year Paul Habecker started a Tuesday morning round of golf with club members that would just like to hit the links and not really worry about scores or handicaps. This has continued into the winter months at the new Top Golf in Fishers when the links are not available. The morning event generally ends with lunch at various locations.
If interested be sure to contact Paul at [email protected] on Thursday to reserve your spot the following Tuesd
ay.

12/18/2018
Another rousing day at Top Golf. Your photographer (Jim) did not have a good day so no scores will be shared.
As always we adjourned to Nickel Plate for lunch.
12/11/2018
The cold could not keep these guys away from playing golf today so anyway we also had a visit by Ross and another great picture about the Christmas tree. Thanks to Bill R for the recap.
12/04/2018
Bill R sent in the first 3 pictures and felt the one by the group around the Christmas tree in the lobby would make a great Christmas card! Keith R then sent in the the rest and the following info: Today's duffers braved the weather elements and scored very well. President Ray said in his first game he had been on top.  Well where's the picture to back that happening. Nope!, didn't happen. Sorry Ray. The others that did very well was Paul H. with an average of two games over 400.  Robert H also had two very good games.  Mark was a head in one of their games, while Larry, Howard, and Ron J held their own.  John V did well today along with Jim S.  While Robert W, worked on his very short game.  Guest included,  "Photo Bomb"  Bill R, and Jimmie D.

11/27/2018
Bill Reynolds sent in what the "golf course" looks like in the snow along with the snowy sand traps. He also said it was very cold today. Larry Stein & Jim Shaver sent in the 'warm' pictures of the eight players, and one Heckler. John V and Jimmy D joined the lunch crowd at the warm Nickle Plate.
11/20/2018
Today's scores just like the weather's temp.... very low, but competitive with the duffers.  During the games some of the scores were tied until the next swing of the club.  Today a score of 100 plus was hard to attain by some of the duffers Even so, still all were just happy to be there.
There were three competing groups:
Pres. Ray, Bob H, Bob W, and Larry were in group one.
Jimmie D, John V, and Howard made up group two.
Tom P, Mark and Steve competed in group three.
A warm up at the Nickle Plate Pub was a welcome site.
Again thanks to Keith for the observations and pictures.
11/13/2018
Today's Top Golf was cold and windy, and some of the scores were just like the weather near freezing. Today Paul brought a good friend named Don, who did very well playing against the others.  Don, is there a Corvette in the future?  Wylie, Bob, Robert, Paul, Tom, Steve and the two Johns' had a good time, and of course, Don, come back again you welcome any time. Thanks to Keith and Bill R for pictures and Keith the write up of the day's events.
11/06/2018
Today, the skies may have been mostly cloudy and windy...but the scores were ... IT'S A NEW TOP GOLF RECORD. !!!  PAUL has set a new record high in points. Over 806 points in one game, as well Howard, had his best scores also today.  Both Johns' played very well, while Wylie, Ray, Larry, Tom, and Robert traded points all morning. Visitors included Bill R and Keith.  Lunch was again at the the Nickle Plate Pub and great conversations abound during it.

10/30/2018
Early Pictures from Bill Reynolds ..  more and the write up from Keith came in later;
The sunny fall skies greeted our duffers today at Top Golf.  Three groups, which were:  Group one President Ray, Bob and Larry.  Group two were Mark, John V the first, Joel, and Keith.  The scores were were very hot with no losers in the groups.  Then at 11:30 off to the Nickle Plate Pub for Lunch.
10/23/2018
Another Good Group
Today was a  Crisp Sunny morning founding our regular golfers out  hitting the balls at Top Golf.
Besides the putters, visiting were Bill R, and Keith R.  First group and round was led by Mark, then Tom,
John V (the second), and Jimmie D.  Our second group comprised of Bob, John V (the first), Ray and Howard
oth foursomes had great scores, until Howard BLASTED his way from last place to a commanding first place.
Today's service at the Nickle Plate was again top notched.  Note:  Larry and Wylie we missed you today, hope to see you guys swing that club soon.
10/16/2018
Today was just a little bit frosty.  But the scores weren't chilly, they were "smoking" and "crushing" the golf balls.  Team one had Wylie with the best score of the day of 407.  Ray was second, Bob, Tom, and Larry played very well. Team two had Howard John V one, John V two and Mark.  Howard score of 244 bested the group, while both Johns and Mark played well.  Visitors included Jimmy D and Bill R.
At the Nickle Plate, John H (got a Kitchen pass from Marge) joined the group for lunch.  Hobo stew, grilled cheese, burgers and subs were the orders of the day. Thanks to Keith for the pictures and write up.

10/09/2018
One more summer-like day at Top Golf  as Howard and Bob battled for the top spot.  In the first game John (the first V) shot a 218, Howard a close second with a 202, Ray bested with a 120, and Tom at a 106.
In the second round, Howard finished at 271 while Bob finished at 264. Other scores ranged from 216 to 112, great weather and great time was had by all.  Next was lunch at the Nickle Plate, where good food was served.
10/02/2018
Looks like Larry drew the 'short' club.
It was a sunny morning for the Top Golf Group ready to compete in 70+ degrees weather. Bill, Wylie, Keith and John V were present to cheer the golfers as they racked up their scores. This week, it was again, Mark leading the top with a top score of 244 with John (the second) V with a score of 164, and president Ray & Larry tied for the basement.  Tom P and the group made it to the Nickle Plate for all round good time at lunch afterwards.
09/25/2018
Small crowd today three golfers and two non-golfers. Rain was the topic of the day. The golf balls must of had power breaks do to once it hit the ground, it stopped rolling.  Substituting for the absent President Ray, was VP Paul, Tom and Mark were hitting the balls Our sub, Vice Pres."smoking hot" Paul was clearly the Top Golfer.
09/18/2018
Another beautiful day for the Top Golfers to enjoy. First pictures in are from Bill Reynolds.
Today's Top Golf was visited by Bill R and his wife Cheryl, just out, on morning parole. The other
players were the usual suspects Wylie,Howard, John V, Bob, Mark, John V the second Ray and Charlie.
Of course, lunch at the was well attended at the Nickel Plate.

09/11/2018
What a beautiful day at Top Golf.  There were six players, and three onlookers. Group one was John V, Howard, and John Vess, where as Group two had Ray, Bob and Mark.  The onlookers included Tom, Bill and Keith. All the games scores were close with multiple winners.
09/04/2018
Was a sunny warm 86 degrees, high humidity morning at Top Golf, but the scores were a Blistering HOT as  Howard, was in the lead, a tie between Bob, Larry and John, as time was expiring. Golfer missing was president Ray, due to other commitments.  Lunch was at the Nickel Plate Restaurant, where hamburgers, grilled cheese and hobo stews abound.  Another good day. Thanks to non golfer Keith for the pictures & report.
08/28/2018
A smaller group today, but a surprise visit from John Vess’s daughter Kim. Lunch was yummy as usual.
See the guys do take their Corvettes to Top Golf

08/21/2018
8 hardy souls braved the rainy weather and Top Golf mechanical issues for a round of golf and then on to lunch at the Nickel Plate.

08/07/2018 Later sent by Keith (so why did you guys hide from Bill?)
Today's Top Golf saw more rain and soggy conditions.  It seams like every week, one of the golfers "smoked" the two foursomes.  This week Larry was the top Gun, with Robert and Charlie, well that's a different story. Visitors included Gary C and Keith R.  At 11:30, all headed home or to the Nickle Plate for a light lunch.

08/07/2018
Bill Reynolds sent in this note and picture: Anyway I was a top golf today checked out two floors of people but nobody from the Corvette club just wanted to show you I was there and it did happen !
Note to John Vess .. does he get double points for upholding the club's honor?
Picture
07/31/2018
The last day of July brought out a good group enjoying the morning out.
First Formidable Group:
President   "SMOKE'N"  RAY CHESTER   blasted today's competition.
Leaving Mark, John and Tom in the wind.
Second Formidable Group.
Howard bested Larry and Robert as time expired
Bill R and Keith R were there giving support to the golfers.
Of course the group then headed to Nickle Plate for lunch afterwards.

07/24/2018
Another beautiful day at the Top Golf Driving Range and then on to Nickle Plate with Keith the designated photographer to document the antics of the group,
07/17/2018
Keith sent in pics of the guys heading to Top Golf and then Nickle Plate for another fun morning and early afternoon.
07/10/2018
On a nice morning Corvettes got to go to Top Golf and Lunch too!!!
07/03/2018
Holiday Week or not the Group was still at Top Golf in the morning and Nickle Plate for lunch.
06/19/2018
Top Golf: Enjoy the view of the guys who drove their Corvette. Anyway they all had a lot of fun so until next time keep cool. Pics and notes from Bill before he heads off to Tuesday Steak night dinner.
Also Ray sent in the Nickle Plate lunch time pictures.

06/12/2018 Lunch

Nice crowd at Nickel Plate
06/12/2018
So today a few pictures different try to guess who’s feet you’re looking at.
Also here’s a couple group shots, and two people drove their Corvette. Still a great time on a great day.
Send your guesses to Bill Reynolds at
[email protected]
06/05/2018
Great lunch after a fun morning at Top Golf

05/29/2018
All 6 players drove there Vettes to Top Golf. Then headed to Nickel Plate for lunch

05/29/2018

Only four golfers at Ironwood today. Temperature was high but a constant breeze made it bearable.
Picture

05/22/2018
Paul, Wylie with Chris Ballard Colts GM, at golf outing.
Paul comments that:
He cornered me and Wylie to pick our brains about football.

05/22/2018

Three duffers took to the links today at Ironwood Golf Course.  We started under sunny skies.  It got cloudy at the turn but nothing came of it. We had a great time even if we don’t want to talk about our scores.
05/22/2018
Topgolf where the real action is and Nickle Plate were tales are told.

05/15/2018

Seven members headed to Top Golf for a fun morning of hitting but not chasing golf balls.

05/08/2018
At least two were at Top Golf today as Ray took the pictures and John to the swing.
05/01/2018
A note from Bill Reynolds and the first 3 pictures:
As you can see a very small crowd we even got one of the servers to stick her face in there, anyway beautiful day.
Jim Shaver sent in the following and a couple of pictures of the real golfer group:

Today’s beautiful Spring weather found six Corvette Indy members at Ironwood for the first round of the year.
04/24/2018
A bit of a dreary day today at Top Golf. Nonetheless, seven hardy hackers gave it a go. Only one heckler today.  Our heckler moved in but Shep and Tom P. joined us for lunch at the Nickel Plate Bar and Grill. Our regular waitress was sad to learn that most of us would not be back next week because we will be in a real golf course.
04/17/2018
Bill Reynolds sent in the following:
Anyway putt putt was closed so the guys had to go to top golf, this is a picture of the group!!
Then Jim Shaver's contribution for the day was:
Another beautiful day for Corvette Indy at Top Golf. We have moved on from “grip it and rip it” to more of the skill games. Eight golfers and only one heckler today. After golf it was off to Nickel Plate where Tom P. joined us for lunch. Both sent in photos so thanks much for them.
04/10/2018
Another beautiful day for Corvette Indy at Top Golf. David P. Was our newest player and it was clear from the beginning that he knows how swing a club. Most of the usual suspects were the with 12 players and 2 hecklers. Ron skipped lunch, something about needing to go home and pack for Hawaii. Tom P. did join us for lunch at Nickel Plate.

04/03/2018
Interesting day at Top Golf. Our biggest challenge today was the huge puddles on the “fairway.”  We were warm and dry under the heaters. One our biggest groups of the season: 12 golfers and 1 heckler. With this large group our lunch was especially loud at the Nickel Plate.

03/27/2018
Even though the weather on the streets was dreary, we were warm and dry at Top Golf. We had 10 golfers and one heckler today. Bill R skipped lunch at Nickel Plate but once again Shep and Tom P joined us.

03/20/2018
Burrr....the coldest day yet!
A bit nippy today. We agreed that the wind made today’s 30 degree temp was colder than the day when it was nine degrees. Six golfers and no hecklers. Shep and Tom joined us for lunch at Nickel Plate.

Another fun day at Top Golf. We had 9 golfers and no hecklers today. We decided to branch out an try different games today instead of just hitting them hard. Very challenging. As always we ended our morning with lunch at Nickel Plate. Thanks to Jim Shaver for the report and pictures of the gang.

A beautiful clear but cool morning for hitting 'chipped' golf balls. Then of course there was lunch afterwards.

With warmer weather the group had a great time, also Paul being back gave them some added incentive to hit the golf balls straight. The day was warmer too with two Corvettes tagging along when everyone heading to lunch afterwards.

A good group on a cold morning. A mix of golfers and a couple of kibitzers make for a fun morning.

Smaller than usual group today but we still had a great time. The snow was gone so it was much easier to follow the ball as it missed the targets. Thanks to Jim for the write-up and pictures of golf balls being hit and Ray for the luncheon afterwards. Good to see Bob out and about again.

A hearty group had another fine day at Top Golf in Fishers. The temperature was a toasty 18 degrees when we started. The only downside was tracking our balls in the snow.

Lunch, the real reason we meet for Top Golf.
