Rick's Boatyard Trip II
On a gorgeous Fall day a group of the Retirees & Hookey Players met at Greg & Donna's to take a great drive to Ricks. The group consisted of hosts Greg & Donna, Dick & Bonnie, Bill & Erika, Jack, Susie, guests John & Margret . Upon arriving Erika noted that their car was the only non red one and wondered to the group if she & Bill would be allowed to go along. Greg quickly offered a can of red engine paint to remedy the situation, but it was declined by Bill with the observation that having a non red Corvette at the tail end of the group would make it easier to keep the group intact. Taking our usual circuitous route we went north into Carmel, but not for long and then headed west on 106st across to the Zionsville road. From there we headed south on to Greg's secret route of beautiful Fall foliage and curvy roads. The only real issue on the route was that we kept encountering walnuts in the road, being green Dick wondered if they were apples. Greg will get some samples of walnuts from his house to give to Dick for future reference. The roads surprised Jack, as they reminded him a little bit of SC, just not a curvy or hilly.. but hey we were just on the outskirts of Indianapolis. At one point Susie reminded us that deer had been an issue last fall, so everyone kept a sharp lookout, but fortunately none were seen. Possibly Greg's exhaust note from his C4 kept them out of site. Lunch at Ricks was good as always, and what a great day to be out on the porch. Not many opportunities for that will happen for the rest of this year. After the leisurely lunch we all departed for homes, again enjoying the sun and wonderful day for driving.
