A Trip to Rick's Boatyard
On a beautiful Friday afternoon the Retiree's and Hookey Players met at Greg & Donna's house for a little driving and lunch at Rick's. It took us awhile to leave the house due to the comfortable weather, but finally we mounted up and got on the road. With Greg & Donna in the lead, Jim & Bonnie, Bill & Erika, and Tom followed along for a circuitous route to our destination. Since it is summer, and roads are being repaired at a furious rate we had several reroutes, our first was not being able to go north up Spring Mill past 86th street as it was getting a much needed repave. A trip over to Ditch and up to and west along 116th was going well until we got to the Shelbourne roundabout, all of a sudden there was a call from Greg on the radio of "Make a full circle around" as he had found that Shelbourne was under construction going to the south. So, with 4 brightly colored corvettes making a full 540 degree circle we again got headed west on 116th street with a new route. Fortunately for Greg, and the rest of us, an oncoming driver flashed her lights just prior to our going by a Carmel officer 'reviewing' traffic as it went by on 116th. From there we went down Michigan, out 106st and to the great route, that Greg now knows by heart, which goes out into the country and then back to Ricks. Once at Ricks we sat outside and enjoyed the summer breeze, good food and great company. We could not have asked for better weather and hopefully will have it nearly as nice on our next dine n drive.
